    Mushroom cold room: temperature, humidity & airflow

    In short.

    A button mushroom room changes setpoint by crop stage: spawn run at 22–25°C and 90–95% RH, pinning at 16–18°C, cropping at 14–17°C and 85–90% RH. Humidity matters as much as temperature — low humidity dries out pins, while high humidity without airflow causes disease. Walls and roof are typically 100 mm PUF with hygienic GI, PPGI or SS finishes.

    A mushroom cold room is not a generic cold room. Setpoints change by crop stage and tight humidity control matters as much as temperature. Here is how we engineer mushroom rooms.

    Stage-wise setpoints (button mushroom)

    Indicative ranges.

    • Spawn run: 22–25°C, 90–95% RH
    • Case run: 22–24°C, 90–95% RH
    • Pinning: 16–18°C, 90–95% RH
    • Cropping: 14–17°C, 85–90% RH

    Humidity & fresh air

    Humidification via fogger / ultrasonic + insulated ducting. Fresh-air exchange controlled by CO₂ sensors during cropping.

    PUF spec

    100 mm walls and roof typical, with hygienic GI / PPGI / SS finishes and proper cove joints.

    Why does humidity matter as much as temperature?

    Low humidity dries out pins and reduces yield; high humidity without airflow causes disease. Maintaining both is what separates engineered rooms from generic cold rooms.
