The system is sized to your daily energy, not your connected load alone — then the scheme you choose sets the subsidy.
- MNRE — PM-KUSUM Component B (standalone off-grid solar pumps): 30% central + 30% state assistance; the farmer pays 40%.
- MNRE — PM-KUSUM Component C (solarising grid-connected agricultural pumps): 30% central financial assistance.
- PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana — residential rooftops only: ₹30,000/kW for the first 2 kW + ₹18,000 for the 3rd kW, capped at ₹78,000. Commercial and industrial rooftops get no central subsidy.

Daily energy demand
demand (kWh/day) = connected load (kW) × hours/day - 02
System size
system kW = ⌈ demand ÷ 4.2 kWh/kW/day ⌉4.2 units a day per kW is an India-wide average; actual generation varies about ±15% by state and shading.

Generation and savings
units/year = system kW × 4.2 × 365 · savings = units × ₹7.5 - 07
Payback
payback (years) = (cost − subsidy) ÷ annual savings

How do I calculate solar panel requirement for agriculture?
Multiply connected load (kW) by operating hours/day to get daily demand (kWh). Divide by ~4.2 kWh/kW/day (India average insolation). That gives system kW. Each 550 W panel covers ~0.55 kW, needs ~7 sqm/kW of roof or open ground.
What is PM-KUSUM subsidy?
PM-KUSUM (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan) provides 60% subsidy (30% Central + 30% State) on solar pumps under Component B and 30% Central Financial Assistance under Component C for grid-connected agri pumps. Farmer pays the remaining 40% (Component B) or 70% (Component C) with bank loan support.
Is solar suitable for cold storage?
Yes — modern cold storages use solar to offset 40-70% of refrigeration load. AgriMotion designs hybrid solar + grid systems with thermal energy storage to keep compressors running even on cloudy days. Typical payback: 3.5-5 years.
How much does a 10 kW solar system cost in India?
A 10 kW grid-tied rooftop system costs around ₹5.5 lakh at 2025-26 rates (₹55,000/kW turnkey, including panels, inverter, structure, BOS and net-metering). For agri use, PM-KUSUM-C brings net cost to ~₹3.85 lakh.
Does AgriMotion install solar across India?
Yes. We are a solar EPC contractor empanelled for MNRE and several DISCOM schemes. Pan-India installation with 25-year panel warranty and 5-year O&M support.
